In the spring session, the General Assembly will once again be working towards pension reform. This action was successfully thwarted in the fall veto session partly due to the efforts of our members who mailed, emailed, and phoned their legislators to let them know that making changes to our pension is unconstitutional. Great job! We need to recharge our batteries to prepare for this new attack and respond as we did in the fall. Pension reform will impact all of us so we all need to participate in defending our retirement.
Proposed IEA Budget
Co-presidents JoAnne Albrecht and Debbie Woods will be representing WEA at the IEA Representative Assembly in March. One of the items on the agenda is the proposed IEA budget. This budget includes a $5 increase in member dues. This will be discussed at WEA meetings so please attend to share you thoughts on this issue.
